Claude Monet’s paintings reveal his obsession with the ever-changing play of color and light on water. His beloved lily pond in Giverny, France, was a favorite subject during his late years. In the open air, and using quick, broken brushstrokes, he captured his impressions of fleeting moments in time. Floating lily pads and mirrored reflections assume equal stature, blurring distinctions between solid objects and the transitory effects of sunlight. Four of Monet’s extraordinary paintings are reproduced in this keepsake notecard set. Japanese Footbridge and the Water Lily Pool, Giverny, 1899 Nymphéas, c. 1897–1898 Waterlilies or The Water Lily Pond (Nymphéas), 1904, Waterlilies, 1907.
