Spanning nearly one thousand years of artistic creativity, Lines on the Horizon celebrates a gift that transforms the presentation of Native American art at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. The Weisel Family Collection, developed by Thomas Weisel over the course of thirty years, is wide ranging, with a focus on the indigenous arts of the American Southwest, from ancient ceramics to basketry, pottery, and Navajo textiles from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Art from the Pacific Northwest and the first Plains ledger drawings to enter the Museums' holdings are also included, further demonstrating the ingenuity and diversity of Native Americans' artistic traditions.
