What do you look for when selected a button to transform into jewelry?

These are all hand-made so they are all loved but the one the sticks out of my button box has to be the necklace that California Congresswoman Jackie Speier bought.

How do you begin when designing a new piece of jewelry?

I'm inspired by the actual button. If it's a button from 1888 and has a story behind it I focus on the button to tell the story for example: Pierrot and Pierette is a French button from the opera, he was nearing down to ask her to marry her BUT he could speak so he mimed it!

What is your favorite piece and why?

My inspiration to make a piece comes from the love of the history the button has to tell, for example this Pierrot & pierrette Button is a love story (opera) He asked to marry him, if you look closer he's on one knee but he couldn't speak so he mimed it!

What drives you to create?

I was excited to win an award from the discarded to Devine show hosted at the de Young. I won it for the use of buttons into a necklace.
