We are delighted to welcome back our members and visitors back to the de Young and Legion of Honor Museum Stores. As a department of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, we perform integral and multi-faceted work for the Museums—from earning income and extending mission-related programs, to visitor engagement and educational outreach through our products, events, and partnerships with local and regional artisans.
While we are pleased to feature products designed and made by San Francisco Bay Area talent throughout the year in our stores, we are especially proud to support their creativity and work with our special store events, allowing our members and the general public to experience the superior quality of their artisan-made goods first-hand. Events such as the Holiday Artisan Fair, ARTWEAR at the de Young, and the Fair-Trade Bazaar are great opportunities to discover and shop for elegant jewelry, unique apparel and accessories, sumptuous textiles, and fascinating home goods.
This year, we are thrilled to launch our inaugural Summer Artisan Fair at the de Young, a one-day only outdoor shopping event overlooking the de Young’s Osher Sculpture Garden. Happening on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, the event will also coincide with the opening of Hung Liu: Golden Gate(金門), a site-specific installation in the de Young’s Wilsey Court by Bay Area–based Chinese American artist Hung Liu.
Proceeds from sales made during our special store events are shared between the artisans and the museums, meaning your purchase not only supports the ongoing programing at the museums, but directly impacts the livelihoods of local and artisan-run small businesses in our community. We hope to see you shortly at the Summer Artisan Fair at the de Young and share the bounty of our local favorites with you.
