MOTAWI TILEWORKS

Small Frank Lloyd Wright Jade Avery Tulip Tile

Built in 1907 in Riverside, Illinois, the Avery Coonley House is a grand Prairie-style residence designed by Wright for Avery and Queene Coonley. Wright’s drawing of a tile frieze for the Coonley House was the basis for this tile. While the drawing was never executed on the house, the design remains an early example of Wright’s geometric nature abstractions. Motawi tiles are made with a custom mix of clays and pressed from original plaster molds. Every tile is hand-glazed and embossed on the back for authenticity. At approximately 5/8 inches thick, every tile has a notch in the back for hanging unframed. Made in the USA. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth using mild soap. Ceramic. Measures 4 x 4 in.
