Double Drop Damascene Earrings

Gold-metal plated. Originating in Syria and exported to Spain during the Moorish conquest in the early 700s AD, damascene is an artform that has been around for centuries  Damascene is a surface decoration process that involves the inlaying of gold wire or silver into an undercut groove in the surface of bronze, iron or steel. The sumptuousness of the decoration is due to the contrast between the black color of the steel and the sparkling shine of the precious metals. Made in Toledo, Spain. Finished with french wire backings. Measures 2 x .75 in.

To Care: Store the article in the original packaging or in a soft pouch to avoid scratches. Avoid contact with water. Remove jewelry before applying products such as perfume, soap, lotion or hairspray, as these could damage the metal coloring and reduce the life of the plating. Avoid hard contact that can scratch or chip the surface of the damascene object. Avoid contact with harsh, abrasive materials and glass/window cleaners. Polish with a soft eraser to recover color and shine.
