William Morris Wandle Tote Bag

William Morris' Wandle design was reputedly inspired by an Italian velvet textile in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. This large-scale design was named after the river running through Morris & Co,'s Merton Abbey Works. Morris wrote to his eldest daughter saying, "if it succeeds I shall call is Wandle: the connection may not seem obvious to you as the wet Wandle is not big but small, nut you see it will have to be very elaborate and splendid and so I want to honour our helpful stream."

Magnetic snap closure. One internal pocket. Black nylon lining interior, poly exterior. Burgundy leatherette handles. Measures 12 x 19 in. 11 in handles.

All sale items are final sale and not returnable.
