Monet: The Early Years is the first major exhibition devoted to the first phase in the career of Claude Monet, from 1858, the year of his first exhibited painting, until 1872, when his style began to emerge. During this period, the young artist synthesized a variety of influences - from the paintings of his mentor, landscape painter Eugene Boudin, to the experimental canvases of Edouard Manet - to create striking works that manifested his interest in conveying textures and the effects of light. Feature image on the cover is Claude Monet, Beach at Trouville, 1870. Spiraled hardcover, lined pages. Measures 7.5 x 6.
