This striking pendant showcases a sinuous snake motif derived from the finial on a rare silver wine cup in The Met collection. Made in Britain about 1565, the handsome cup bears the maker's mark of Affabel Partridge, who worked as goldsmith to Queen Elizabeth I from about 1558–78. Partridge's work is distinguished by its rich decoration and fine quality. Lobster claw closure, 14K gold vermeil.Pendant measures 1 x .75 in. Measures 16 in. with 2.25 in. extender.
