This hand-made vase is a splendid blend of tradition and innovation. The carved pattern evokes memories of ancient Mesopotamian patterns and is contrasted with the simple yet modern shape of the vessel. Located in Sonoma Valley, the works of Nichibei potters blends the elegant tradition of Japanese folk art with a contemporary flair resulting in an innovative collection of handmade pottery that is unmistakably Nichibei. Mikio Matsumot and Cheryl Constantini's jade green color is unique and is created by applying a copper glaze to the porcelain and high firing it in a gas kiln at 2,400 degrees. Each vase is hand made and the colors, size and pattern will vary slightly. Measures 8.5 x 2.75 in.
