Gifts of Art to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco is published by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in celebration of the major artworks given to or promised by generous donors during a campaign that launched in 2022 through 2025 on behalf of the centennial of the Legion of Honor, the fifty-year anniversary of the creation of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and the twenty-year anniversary of the new de Young. Established in 1972, when an amendment to the San Francisco city charter joined the de Young and Legion of Honor under one governance with a new name, the Fine Arts Museums became the largest public arts institution in Northern California.
