In 2005, San Francisco's de Young museum was reborn in a landmark building that integrates art, architecture, and the natural landscape. Architects Herzog & de Meuron created a dramatic copper facade that is perforated and textured by thousands of dots in various sizes, an artistic abstraction of the patterns made by light through the tree canopy of Golden Gate Park. Now a signature architectural element, the dot pattern on the de Young's exterior inspires the Museum Stores' collection of exclusive items celebrating the West Coast's premier art museum. This signature bookmark is derived from the de Young's now iconic and unique architecture and copper exterior. Measures 5.75 x 1.25 in.
