The Thinker is considered by many to be Auguste Rodin’s most celebrated work. It was conceived as part of his monumental Gates of Hell, inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. Originally titled The Poet, The Thinker represents Dante himself.
This reproduction was inspired from the heroic-size bronze in the collection of the Legion of Honor. Hand-cast and hand-finished in crushed-stone resin using a centuries-old casting technique, the sculpture is crafted with exceptional attention to detail. Artisans apply the patina through a labor-intensive process involving multiple layers and specialized shading. The result is a durable, beautifully finished statue designed to withstand the ravages of time.
