Etruscan Boy Thin Statue

The Etruscan culture clearly shows Greek influences and laid the foundation for much of later Roman culture. The height of the so-called stretched figures—elongated, flat figures—occurred between the 5th and 2nd centuries BC. These figures originated in Southern Etruria, where, beginning in the 8th century, small figures were crafted by cutting from thin sheets of metal. The slender figure of an Etruscan boy became the most famous stretched figure thanks to the story of its discovery; a farmer found the figure while working his land near Volterra in 1870. He used it as a fire poker for years. Many artists, including the famous Italian sculptor Giacometti have taken inspiration from the beautiful, abstract forms of the famous Etruscan stretched figures.

Statue replica is from the highly collectible Parastone Mouseion 3D Collection. Made from collectible quality, resin with hand-painted color details, matte and glossy finish. The round base is metal. Includes a full-color card with an image of the original artwork. Measures 12.5 x 2.75 in.
