Patina Winged Scarab

Winged scarabs, meant to guarantee the rebirth of the deceased, were very popular funerary amulets. This statue is handmade from polymer with a hand painted patina finish. Your statue will come with an information card and in a box with hieroglyphic designs.  The ancient Egyptians believed that the scarab was the earthly manifestation of the god Khepri, and pushed the sun across the sky each day, only to disappear and magically re-appear the next morning. As such, it is a powerful amulet for self-creation, transformation, and re-birth. They were worn or carried by the living, and also buried with the dead to help them on their way to the afterlife. The base was usually inscribed with designs or hieroglyphs to form an impression seal. Measures .75 x 3.75 x 2 in.
