Egyptian glassmaking, in its modern form, dates back to the early nineteenth century, when the art of glassblowing experienced a revival. Today, it remains a highly skilled and artistic craft, with techniques traditionally passed down through generations—most often from father to son.
The profession has historically been dominated by men, due in part to the physically demanding nature of the work, including prolonged exposure to extreme heat and the risk of burns to the face and hands. More broadly, cultural norms in Egypt have also contributed to the limited participation of women in this craft. Handmade in Egypt, our beautiful pink glass perfume bottle has accents of gold and raised glass dots. Measures 5.5 in. tall.
