An expression of Ian McKibbin White's life in art, The Creative Impulse is filled with color reproductions that encompass the complete range of the artist's works, including a prolific body of American landscape paintings, still lifes, portraits, works on paper, and travel paintings. The book features writing throughout by the artist, as well as an introduction and commentary by William Baker Rand, a foreword by Paul J. Karlstrom, and an essay by Clyde Aspevig.
